The FDMS3662 is a Single-voltage Depletion-mode p-channel MOSFET. This device is primarily used in applications such as low voltage load switches and in control functions within portable products. It is available in a 0.375 inch SOIC-8 package which reduces power losses and maximizes power output in applications where the overall size is a concern. The FDMS3662 offers low on and off-state RDS(on) at a maximum of 6mA, ideal for applications with low current drain.

The FDMS3662 is also particularly well suited for power-management use in portable products such as cellular phones, handheld computers, as well as other devices. It can operate on a single supply and be controlled by either a logic-level gate or an open-drain control circuit. The FDMS3662 is designed to operate at a maximum drain-source voltage of 30 volts and the maximum gate-source voltage is 30 V. It is also capable of withstanding up to -1V gate-to-source voltage.

The FDMS3662 is a depletion-mode device, which means that it is "normally-on" with zero gate voltage applied. A low voltage applied to the gate is necessary to turn the device off. It allows current in either direction depending on the polarity of the drain-source terminal. It is used as a load switch in low voltage applications, where the gate voltage is used to turn off the device. In open-drain control applications, it can be used to switch the device on and off. A high voltage applied to the gate is necessary to turn the device on.

In a typical switch application, the FDMS3662 can be used to turn a load "on" and "off" in response to a logic-level control signal. When the control signal is at low voltage, no current flows through the device, allowing the load to remain off. When the control voltage switches to high level, the device will conduct current and the load is turned on.

In open-drain control applications, the device can be used to switch the load into a high-impedance state. When the gate voltage is switched to low, the load is turned off. When the gate voltage is switched to high, the device will conduct current and the load will be turned on. The open-drain control can be used to control the gate voltage level.

In both applications, the FDMS3662 is ideal for controlling low power loads in a space-saving package. Its low voltage operation and its wide supply voltage range make it especially suitable for portable device applications. It is also designed for excellent thermal tracking performance and low overall power consumption. The device also has an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection feature, which provides the necessary protection against ESD-induced breakdowns.
