HAT2203CWS-E is a member of the HAT2203C family of high quality, cost-effective non-asynchronous, single-phase AC-input AC/DC power supplies. This family of power supplies is ideal for industrial and medical applications where high efficiency, wide temperature range, low audible noise and small size are required. These power supplies feature an all-in-one design with integrated power factor correction, overload protection, and EMI/safety standards support, making them ideal for a variety of applications.The HAT2203CWS-E offers up to 50 watts of fixed output power and is rated to withstand temperatures from -40°C to +50°C without derating. The input voltage range of 85-264VAC makes it suitable for operation in a variety of mains-powered environments. It also has a low no-load power consumption of 0.75W. This power supply meets various EMI certifications such as FCC Class B and EN55022 Class B, as well as safety standards such as UL/CUL, CB, and UL60601.The HAT2203CWS-E has a wide range of application fields and working principle. It can be used in industrial applications such as manufacturing, material handling, and other equipment control systems, and medical applications such as medical instruments, analysis equipment, and healthcare equipment.The HAT2203CWS-E is mainly based on the principle of voltage conversion. It uses a flyback topology, relying on a switching transistor to regenerate or transfer power from the primary side of the transformer to the secondary side, where the output voltage is acquired. The basic principle is that alternating current (AC) is applied in one side of the transformer, the other side of which is connected to a power switch, such as a PNP transistor or MOSFET, which repeatedly switches on and off at a high frequency, resulting in a corresponding voltage on the secondary side of the transformer.The power switch current is not a pure sine wave but a “chopped” sine wave – a pulse-width modulated (PWM) waveform – as the switch is toggled at a very high rate. This type of power switch is known as an active power switch, and it is this active switch that makes the HAT2203CWS-E so efficient – it allows for higher power concentrations than in a passive power supply.The active switch also allows for a power factor correction (PFC) circuit to be employed. The PFC circuit reduces the voltage distortion generated by the high frequency switching of the active switch. This ensures the input current of the power supply is more sinusoidal and at the same frequency as the supply voltage. This ensures the power supply meets the requirements for operation in certain countries and regions, and meets EMI specifications.The HAT2203CWS-E is highly efficient with a typical efficiency of 90 per cent or more. This ensures minimal wastage of energy, supporting low running costs. It is also designed with an in-rush current limit which limits the surge current seen when the power supply is first powered on. This protects the power from potential damage and maximizes the power supply’s lifetime.In addition, the HAT2203CWS-E is designed to be highly reliable, with a low output noise design to limit device interference and enhance system performance, and multiple protection mechanisms to protect against short circuit, overload, and over temperature.The HAT2203CWS-E’s efficient, reliable and compact design makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of application fields and working conditions.
