The HAT2141H-EL-E is a JFET transistor from the family of single MOSFETs. It is an N-channel enhancement mode type transistor, similar to the 2N7000, with different packages and lead spacing.

A MOSFET is an acronym for Metal-OXide-Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor, or simply Field Effect Transistor (FET). It has "gates", or the point in the circuit that switches between ON and OFF states, regardless of the amount of current through the device. It is most often used as an analog Voltage-Controlled Switch, where the controlled variable is a voltage signal.

The HAT2141H-EL-E transistor is a voltage-controlled type, which works in an enhancement mode, meaning that it is OFF when the gate is not activated, and ON when the gate is activated. It comes in a TO-220 package with its two gates isolated from one another, allowing for easy routing within a PCB assembly or board. It has a drain current of 3A and a maximum drain-source voltage of 200V.

This transistor is widely used in many areas of application, including automotive electronics, consumer electronics, power control systems, power converters, and power supply circuits. When the gate voltage is below the threshold voltage, called Vt, the transistor is in the OFF state. When VGS exceeds the threshold voltage, the transistor is in the ON state, allowing current to flow between the drain and source. In other words, the HAT2141H-EL-E works much like a switch, allowing the current to flow between the drain and source when the gate voltage is applied.
