2N7002 Application Field and Working Principle

The 2N7002 transistor is an N-Channel enhancement mode field-effect transistor (FET) and is one of the most commonly used power MOSFETs available due to its low cost and simple circuit designs. Its application fields range from general switching and amplifying circuits, to RF amplifiers and power supplies. It is also used in digital and analog circuits such as switching power-supplies, data converters and DC-DC converters. Working Principle

The 2N7002 transistor consists of three terminals: gate (G), drain (D), and source (S). These three terminals are connected to a P-Channel MOSFET, which is the core component. When the gate is left open, no charge carriers can flow between the drain and source, and thus the device is off. When a positive voltage is applied to the gate terminal, a depletion region of charge carriers is created between the gate and the drain and source. This in turn causes a current flow between the drain and source, and the device is then turned on.

The gate terminal acts as a switch, and the voltage level of the gate controls the current flow between the drain and the source. As the voltage at the gate rises, the current flow between the drain and source increases, and vice versa. Circuit Design
