STW20NM50FD Application Field and Working Principle

STW20NM50FD is a N-channel enhancement mode Field Effect Transistor (FET) made by STMicroelectronics Company. It is part of their STw20N family of FETs and is available in VDSS of 20 volts. This FET has a drain-source current that is up to 51A. It also has a drain-source voltage of up to 500V. It is typically used for automotive and consumer applications such as power management, motor control applications and LED or LCD displays.

The working principle of FETs is based on the idea of a capacitor. FETs work by creating an electrical field that causes an electrical charge to flow between the source and drain terminals.
