IRLU024NPBF is an N-Channel enhancement-mode FET, manufactured using the company’s advanced planar stripe and DMOS technology. This insulated-gate FET device provides very low on-resistance and enhanced Price to Performance Ratio, making it a better choice for low-cost applications. IRLU024NPBF has a remarkably low rds(on) and low capacitance, allowing a reduction in board space, lower power dissipation and higher switching speeds. Designed forSwitch-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS)as well as low noise, high speed power switching circuits, the device is particularly well suited for high current switch applications.
The IRLU024NPBF is comprised of a drain and source, which are separated from each other by a thin layer of silicon, known as Gate insulation. The insulation layer is thin enough that a small electric charge on the Gate terminal of the FET device can control the flow of current between the drain and source. This allows for substantial power amplification. The Gate can be considered as a gate valve that is opened and closed for controlling the current flow between drain and source.
The basic operation principles of FET devices are envelope inversion and depletion layer formation. In envelope inversion, a small voltage on the Gate terminal can cause a large electric field to be established inside the device. This electric field results in a thin layer of electrons being inverted from the body of the device. This thin layer of electrons forms a depletion layer and the FET is turned on. When the Gate voltage is increased, the electric field causes a deeper inversion of electrons, which causes an increase in the depletion layer and the FET will go into the active region.
The IRLU024NPBF is primarily used in switch-mode power supplies as it can reduce rds(on) and attain high switching speeds. This allows a user to obtain considerable power savings compared to a discrete power MOSFET. Also, the device has low capacitance, making it an ideal choice for low noise and high speed power switching circuits. Furthermore, due to its low on-resistance, the device can effectively reduce board space and power dissipation, providing better Price to Performance ratio.
The IRLU024NPBF is one of the most commonly employed FET devices for power switching needs. Its low on-resistance, combined with its low capacitance, makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications. The device’s high performance, coupled with its improved Price to Performance ratio, makes it a great choice for high current switch applications.
