The FQPF5N50C field effect transistor is a replacement member of the FQP5N50 family of n-channel enhancement mode power MOSFETs, which encompass a wide variety of packages. To keep it brief, the FQPF5N50C MOSFET is a single, n-channel enhancement mode field-effect transistor. The FQPF5N50C provides very high performance in many applications, including load switch and driver circuits, in consumer and automotive applications.

The FQPF5N50C is an all-around useful device. The most pertinent characteristic of a FQPF5N50C MOSFET is its low on-state resistance compared to other power FETs. This reduced resistance allows much more power to pass through the device and it eliminates heating problems that would be found in other devices. It also has very low gate charge, making it great for energy efficiency. The FQPF5N50C has very smooth switching characteristics and offers fast switching speed.

The FQPF5N50C has several working principles. It is an n-channel enhancement mode field-effect transistor, meaning it is composed of four regions formed by an n-type substrate and three p-type regions of silicon. The presence of an extra gate allows a depletion region to form around it. The resultant electrostatic field sets up the cross-conduction path that gives the FQPF5N50C its power. This allows current to pass through the device when the gate voltage is greater than the source voltage. Moreover, drain-source voltage level is sufficient enough to turn the transistor “on”. When the gate voltage is less than the source voltage, the cross-conduction path formed by the depletion region is disrupted, effectively eliminating the transistor’s current flow and turning the device “off”.
