FDD8782 is a high voltage and low on-resistance N-Channel PowerTrench MOSFET. It has been designed to handle 20A as well as to handle the power dissipation requirements of high voltage motor applications. The device provides excellent switching performance and allows for minimized system volume and footprint. It is rated for 20V VDS with a total gate charge If of 229nC for improved switching speed and efficiency. The FDD8782 is ideally suited for motor drive applications, DC-DC converters and synchronous rectifier circuits.
The FDD8782 is an N-Channel power MOSFET. It is an insulated gate type transistor, typically referred to as an insulated gate field-effect transistor (IGFET). It is composed of a source, a drain, and a gate. The source and drain are heavily doped regions of n-type semiconductor material, separated by a thin channel of p-type semiconductor material. There is an insulating layer between the gate electrode and the channel. When a gate voltage is applied, it attracts mobile electrons into the channel, thus creating a conductive path between source and drain. The current flowing from source to drain can be controlled by controlling the gate voltage.
