The NVMFS5C604NLWFAFT3G is a single N-Channel enhancement mode vertical field-effect transistor (MOSFET) with -3 V drain source voltage, 48 A continuous drain current, 0.005 ohm on-resistance and Vgs of -1.2 V. This device belongs to the family of transistors, FETs and MOSFETs in particular.

This device was designed for use in analog signal switch circuits, particularly low voltage (3.3V) load switch and signal control applications such as in automotive, portable and industrial applications. As a MOSFET, this device, like all FETs, has a high switching action and extremely low on-resistance allowing for a high-current capacity and higher listening sensitivity than other FETs with similar load characteristics. The device is also robust with on-resistance tolerance to more than doubling of estimated value from design. Further, it features low gate-charge, making it suitable for low-power and low noise applications.

The working principle of this vertical MOSFET is based on a simple physics phenomenon of charge. When negative charges (electrons) flow through the semiconductor material, they push apart positive charges (holes). When a chip is designed with channels of material, the flow of charges can be manipulated and the number of additional electrons present can be controlled by applying a voltage to a gate electrode. This applies a field to the region and the electrons are forced in one direction or another. This creates a conductive channel with a current dependent on the voltage applied to the gate electrode.

The NVMFS5C604NLWFAFT3G device consists of two opposing surfaces of a semiconductor material and a layer of insulation between them.
